ABOUT ME

I'm Jenn, and lest you think I'm delusional or just the most conceited person on the planet, let me assure you My Fabuless Life is a little tongue in cheek.  I'm the first to admit that life is not always fabulous--some days, fabulous is the last word any of us would use to describe it, but making the most of what I have and what life brings is what I was taught and how I try to live.  I have a need to create that runs in my blood and if I don't know how to do something, I'll figure it out or make it up as I go {not that it always works}.  I grew up with a mother who “got creative” when it came to making a beautiful home on a budget and I now share a passion for the same.  There’s something about the vintage, antique, collected, and eclectic—things with a story and a past—that make my heart happy.  I love to thrift and create things for my home, most especially furniture.  I refinished my first piece (a dresser) in high school when there wasn’t a budget for anything new, and ever since that first transformation, I’ve been obsessed with making the old new and beautiful again and showing others that beauty and charm can be created on a budget, and how to do it.

{All You Ever Wanted to Know About Me (or not):}
*I'm wordy.  Bullet points are not my strong-suit.  Now that you know that...

*My daughter {3} and my husband are my greatest blessing and accomplishment. (I'm not going to bother to tell you that my husband is hot, because isn't that like a given in blog land?--I want to hear someone say "my ugly husband", just once. Unfortunately I can't say that because mine is not ugly.)

*I'm a Utah girl, born & raised and LOVE where I live. Which usually rasies the next question...

*...I am a Catholic (converted in college from Mormonism). A very definitive part of my life.

*I have been personally affected by Lou Gerhig's Disease (ALS) which my beautiful, amazing mom courageously battled for five years {she passed away February 2004}.  Also a very definitive part of my life.  Someday, I will share my experience with this disease. {I've shared a little about her here & here & here.}

*I have a degree in Political Science and I wanted to be an attorney and/or work for a political campaign when I "grew up." I have become completely disillusioned with both professions--especially the political campaign thing and no longer have any desire to pursue it. I'm still very opinionated though--politically and otherwise.

*I'm a sorority girl {a local sorority @ my University} and I married my fraternity boy {Sigma Nu}.

*I hate the word "craft."  Considering my hobbies, I don't know why, but I just really hate that word.

* I drink way too much coffee and may possibly die without it.

*I love wine almost as much as coffee, but don't consume as much because then I would probably have to go to meetings.

*The Big Lebowski may be my favorite movie ever.  If you appreciate this movie, chances are we'll get along.

*It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia is pretty much the greatest show ever, although....

*...when it's not on, my TV almost never moves from DIY Network, HGTV, or Bravo (damn those Real Housewives, they suck me in!)

*My family calls me Dori (like the fish from finding Nemo).  I LOVE anything that sparkles, am very easily distracted, and have NO memory/attention span.  It may prove to be the undoing of my husband.

*In our house there are two seasons: Baseball (SF Giants) & College Football (Notre Dame).

And a shameless plug:
I occasionally sell some of my furniture pieces and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to do custom work.  So hit me up at {Re}Pretty Please shop if you're interested.
